Freelance Graphic Designer, TechTerra Education

  • Work with a team of two to four graphic designers to create and edit educational STEM materials for both digital and printed use, including 500+ Activity Cards for STEM in a Box®.

  • Take direction from the Lead Designer, company Owners, and various Educators to enhance and make changes to the project deliverables.

  • Conduct brief research, as needed, to gain a better understanding of concepts in order to illustrate or design age-appropriate graphics to support the concepts being taught.

  • Collaborate on maintaining a growing library of assets on Adobe CC and Google Drive.

  • Thoroughly and deliberately review deliverables to ensure consistency in color, font, leading, tracking, alignment, and general graphic appearance.

  • Meet with company owner and / or fellow graphic designers via Google Meet, as needed, to discuss ongoing project timeline, status updates, and ask questions to meet project deadlines.

  • Ensure rigorous adherence to the project Brand Guidelines because something as seemingly minor as using pure black (#000000) rather than the required black (#141414, for example) could have larger consequences for the company and its working relationship with outside organizations.

  • Assist in the creation and implementation of a color palette, templates, and ensure that all illustrations adhere to the overall look of the deliverables.

Graphic Designer, The National Society of Leadership and Success

  • Take direction from and collaborate with the Art Director to produce graphics for internal clients and external audiences.

  • Use existing, internal design templates for graphics while also looking for ways to make the process more efficient by creating those same templates in other programs if needed.

  • Create and maintain design templates so that other designers are working from the most updated version.

  • Help maintain an organized digital asset management system (Brandfolder) of 2,000+ assets as well as various other assets on Google Drive.

  • Collaborate with as many as five other designers, sharing assets and ideas, and sometimes assisting in finishing projects others started in order to meet deadlines.

  • Search for photography that most accurately portrays our intended message and the direction provided by the Content Team and Art Director.

  • Edit photos as needed to suit our graphic needs; this might include: removing distracting objects, changing item color, removing text, adjusting color balance for skin tone accuracy, taking video stills to create thumbnails for those videos, etc.

  • Create clean, professional email banners, conference booth displays, social media graphics of varying dimensions specific to each platform, while maintaining strict adherence to Brand Guide.

  • Handle multiple projects at once, paying close attention to the timeline / deadline, gathering the needed information from others, keeping in communication with stakeholders via Asana, Slack or any other means necessary, and prioritizing to ensure that projects are completed on or before the deadline.

  • Follow-up with Project Manager(s) to get feedback from stakeholders to keep projects moving.

  • Created the most recent podcast cover for Motivational Mondays under the direction of our Art Director.

Graphic Designer, San Antonio Marriage Initiative

  • Worked directly with Director of Communications and up to nine other team members as needed, to support creative vision for the organization.

  • Collaborated on projects such as: annual impact report, informational brand collateral design and printing, poster design.

  • Worked directly with vendors to submit, update—or sometimes created new, and approve artwork for branded merchandise.

  • Updated, maintained, and utilized brand guidelines for all graphic design work, ensuring strict adherence to brand standards and communicating the importance of consistent branding to fellow team members.

  • Created eye-catching graphics and engaging designs for Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, and TikTok.

  • Developed and maintained an organized digital asset library of 660+ social media graphics, 600+ stock images, 60+ stock video clips, plus printable files.

  • Executed design projects from start to finish, both print and digital, showcasing creativity and organization, sometimes with a turnaround time of less than an hour.

  • Updated and maintained website changes and requests for two+ websites.

  • Ran monthly checks for broken links, with random manual link checks to make sure visitors do not get an error message.

  • Created basic websites using Squarespace for three new marriage initiatives around the U.S., ensuring adherence to copyright laws for photographs used.

  • Recommended a separation of brands as Health Coach and Writer so that the business owner (my boss) could better target her ideal clients.

  • Helped launch the new website for Sophrosyne Wellness (using Squarespace).

  • Recommended and helped set up an online scheduling system for client management purposes.

  • Added backlinks, SEO page titles and descriptions, image names and captions / alt text to be more SEO-friendly.

  • Created visual brand identity for Sophrosyne Wellness including logos, patterns, brand guide.

  • Collaborated remotely (via Zoom and Google Meet) with Rosy and a fellow intern on a weekly basis so that we were all aware of ongoing projects.

MARCH 2014–MARCH 2017

  • Ran the front- and back-end of the business, including: marketing, customer retention, customer acquisition, branding, created and maintained website, general office duties, and light bookkeeping (which was subsequently contracted out).

  • Established my own website and learned about SEO; went from not being on first 25 pages to being on page one of Google’s SERP within one month.

  • Calculated optimal service and product prices in order to be profitable.

  • Created and used roughly 40 email templates for better time management and to increase productivity.

  • Met with potential clients and current clients to discuss details and create a plan for their photography session.

  • Photographed families (to include couples only, children only, entire families, extended families, and newborns), conducted consultations prior to photography sessions and conducted sales meetings/presentations after photography sessions.

  • Prepared, edited, and cropped photos as needed and required by print company.

  • Designed photography albums, cards, canvases, wall collections, accordion booklets, brochures, digital books, etc. as informative pieces for clients and as final products for them as well.

  • Presented clients with their final photographs and product samples from which they could order.

My prior experience within a non-profit organization has instilled in me a profound appreciation for the significant contributions made by such organizations in our communities. This understanding fuels my deep-seated desire to contribute to causes that resonate with my personal passions. I am enthusiastic about leveraging my skills to make a meaningful impact, however modest, in any capacity available to me.
