A Sweet Retreat Bakery
The Client
A Sweet Retreat Bakery, a small business in Elizabethtown, KY that specializes in special occasion cakes and baked goods for every day in between.
Objective
The objective was to revamp A Sweet Retreat's brand identity and marketing materials. This included creating a new logo from scratch, with input from the client. The aim was to create a cohesive brand image that reflects the client's preferences and business objectives.
Another primary objective was to find the best way to reach a broader audience of potential customers. To do this I designed a direct-mail postcard, a tri-fold menu, box labels, and social media templates for the client. These will all help expand the business reach and further unify the brand.
Overall Strategy
Conduct a client interview and create a marketing plan that includes research, media strategy, and estimates.
Deliverables
Logo, business card, cupcake box design, direct-mail postcard, tri-fold menu / brochure, employee t-shirt, Facebook covers, social media post templates, and promotional pen
Design Strategy
The client specifically requested the continued use of her already-established brand colors: mint green and purple. To go along with the theme of “vacation, retreat, escape,” a soft beige color was used as the main background for many of the deliverables. This beige is reminiscent of a beach.
Aside from the enormous variety of flavors available, A Sweet Retreat has a unique approach compared to the competition because of the vacation-like names for baked goods, such as Vanilla Vacation, Chocolate Paradise, and Red Retreat.
New Logo System
The client was provided with a primary logo and an alternate primary logo. The light, minty green color she requested might be difficult to see when used in certain situations. The purple background on the logos to the right makes it possible to keep the brand colors requested without sacrificing the readability of the illustration.
The circular logos were provided for instances where a square or circular logo.
The cupcakes at the bottom were provided as favicons.
Social Media Templates
These (below) are templates because they are fully editable using Canva. This method provides the client with flexibility to update the look of the business’ social media posts while still maintaining the integrity and unity of the brand.
The client has a pre-defined set of promotions she runs on certain days and/or times and I used some of the most common promotions to create them into templates that could be used time and again, all in keeping with the brand image.
